Quote of the Day

"The beauty of the world has two edges~
one of laughter, one of anguish
cutting the heart asunder."

More Dreamy Light

A few weeks ago I posted photographs I had been collecting along the way, all bookmarked because of the striking beauty of the light in them. I have found more to love and share. You know that saying, do something everyday that makes you happy? Looking at these does that for me. They also make me itch to take that photography class that was my New Years resolution/promise to myself nine long months ago. Maybe soon....

I Would Die Happy Living Here

Isn't this the most breathtakingly beautiful perfection of a gloriously white home you've ever seen? (I know that sentence is ridiculous and it still doesn't do this house one ounce of justice) I could die happily living in such a place. Waking up in a poofy white bed, putting on a white silk robe and having cafe au lait from white china while perched on this dreamy white sofa.

Yes, please.
Where do I get me one?

You won't be even remotely surprised to learn that the home belongs to Darci Ilich, co-owner of (you guessed it, my happy place) The Cross. I worship her. She has flawless taste. And she is nice, to boot! One day I hope to cultivate a home even one tenth as lovely as this.
And maybe if not a whole home....
then one room?

Dreamy Light

p.s - As I wandered through the painting gallery (see post below), taking in the pretty landscapes, it occurred to me that everything I really loved involved either a beautiful sky or soft, dreamy light. Just as in painting, many of the photographs I bookmark for this blog have that same ethereal quality. I think I find it soothing and sweet and that nature is bestowing us with a lovely secret or a spontaneous gift when things are so irresistibly beautiful. A few photographs of dreamy light that give me goose bumps... just because it's raining again, and though I love it, this is prettier. xoxo

Redheads in Vogue

My one and only monthly purchase, without fail, is a pretty, shiny new copy of Vogue. I love everything about it~ the fantasy world of New York City socialites, the decadent homes of designers and, naturally, the insane fashion (good or bad, it's still amazing). I read it cover to cover, faithfully, every month, falling into a world I know little of but wholeheartedly worship. However, this month I was delighted to find not one, not two but three different spreads with redheads in them (July issue featuring Sienna Miller on the cover)!

Sometimes as a redhead I feel left out from the glamourous and beautiful fashion world~ redheads are seldom considered as sexy as blondes or as mysterious and bombshell-like as brunettes. So I was thrilled to see The Spectrum's Ends (a high fashion photo shoot) with two different redheaded models, A Star is Shorn featuring model Iris Strubegger's new edgy (and very red) crop and my favourite, Steal of the Month (an article showing off things I may actually be able to buy!) featuring Karen Elson (wife of The White Stripes' Jack White) and Coco Rocha (a fresh face that is everywhere and was raised in the same city I was, Richmond~ local girl done good!). Coco, albeit, is a faux redhead, but I think she makes an amazing one! As a girl who grew up thinking red hair and freckles weren't beautiful, thank you Vogue for affirming that perhaps they are!
